Kenya is home to the world's most endangered antelope, yet so few people know about this beautiful animal and its desperate plight for survival; there are fewer hirola remaining than the black rhino yet very little attention has been given to this species.

Confined to a corner of South-Eastern Kenya close to the Somali border, an area far off the beaten track for most tourists and visitors, the Northern Rangeland's Trust has been working with the local Abdulla community to secure a future for the hirola. The commitment of the local community to save this species is remarkable and this, combined with practical conservation and sound science, may be the last chance to save this rare and enigmatic antelope from extinction.
