What is the East African Wild Life Society?

Founded in 1961, after 5 years of operating as the Kenya Wild Life Society, the East African Wild Life Society has been at the forefront of active conservation in the region. With members from both the East African region and other countries around the world, EAWLS is committed to promoting the conservation and wise use of East Africa’s wildlife and the environment’.

What makes EAWLS unique among conservation groups? With the membership dues we receive:

• EAWLS influences policy reform through advocacy and publicity
• EAWLS helps support national park infrastructure, anti poaching measures and wildlife sanctuaries
• EAWLS provides conservation education and research
• EAWLS is involved with community conservation initiatives by helping mobilise funds, build capacity and provision of technical and organisational capacity for sustainable development
